Sprucedale
Sprucedale was more than a flag stop. Early twentieth-century descriptions list it as a Grand Trunk Railway station community with stores, churches, a hotel and sawmill. The village remains an active community today.

A railway village
Lovell's 1908 gazetteer described Sprucedale as a post village and station on the Ottawa & Parry Sound division of the Grand Trunk Railway, about forty miles east of Parry Sound. It listed four churches, three stores, a hotel and a sawmill, with a population of about 150.

A surviving Sprucedale yard plan
Library and Archives Canada’s CN land-records finding aid lists a dedicated Sprucedale yard plan prepared by Division Engineer S. McIlwain on March 14, 1927 and revised in 1935. It belongs to the CNR/Grand Trunk Algonquin Subdivision records. A copy has not yet been obtained, but the catalogue entry confirms that a detailed railway-yard drawing survives.
That plan is a high-priority research target because it may show the station, sidings, railway property and nearby structures much more precisely than the topographic maps.
Another map lead: a manuscript fire-insurance plan
Western Libraries lists an undated, one-sheet Sprucedale manuscript fire-insurance plan. It is not yet available to us as a local scan, but if it covers the railway village it could be one of the best sources for identifying buildings around the station.
